The Royal Road to Romance - Full description


Richard Halliburton graduates from Princeton University and decides to take a different path in life than his overly serious roommates. With limited funds, he chats his way onto a cargo ship that leads him to the adventure of a lifetime. In The Royal Road to Romance, you follow Halliburton as he:
  • Makes a first ascent of the ice-covered Matterhorn in Switzerland
  • Hunts a man-eating tiger in Dhamtari
  • Spends the night alone behind the gates of the Alhambra in Spain
  • Is jailed for taking forbidden photographs of Gibraltar
  • Joins a steamship full of Greeks and works his way to Calcutta
  • Camps out at the top of the Kheops overlooking the Nile
  • Finds a strange ecstasy while alone overnight in the Taj Mahal
  • Treks 500 miles in the Himalayas to see hidden Ladakh
  • Climbs Mt. Fuji in winter and almost perishes on his descent
  • Is captured as a stowaway on a ship from Java to China
