Date: Sep 20 1999 From: Mary Lovin To: Penny Pincher Subject: Advantages for the Average Traveler Dear Penny Pincher, How can the average Jane take advantage of all the great travel deals and upgrades? I only travel a few times a year. Am I just out of luck? --Mary Hi Mary. The first technique is to become a 'contrarian' traveler, meaning travel when others are not and go to destinations that desire your business at that time. Use a credit card that accrues miles each time you make a purchase, as well as allows you to transfer miles to whichever airline you chose. Then use those miles to upgrade to first class with your discounted ticket or to redeem hotel and car upgrades. -- Joel |
