Dear Joel,

My wife and I are planning our 25th anniversary and would like to take a cruise. I say seven days but she says three or four days would be enough. Where can I find the best deal on a cruise vacation with possible upgrades? Our anniversary is August 1.

Dear Rick,

I think the best choice for the number of days is to consider how many days you can reasonably afford to take off. Then consider the economic consequences. If you take the seven-day cruise youl have more time on your vacation and will more then likely go to more ports. However, if you go for three days, your costs will be limited to those days. For the same amount of money youl be able to have a more luxurious cruise, making your 25th anniversary something that will be very memorable for another 25 years. Personally, I am a big fan of going for fewer days and making the most of those days by having a truly luxurious experience.

My recommendation for finding a great cruise deal is to contact the cruise lines directly. Many cruise lines will start to discount their inventory for August and offer special prices and upgrades. Most likely youl need to be flexible with your dates and times. Mention that this is your 25th anniversary to assure they give you special treatment.

Have a fun cruise and congratulations on your anniversary.
Joel
