How do you recommend I get an upgrade when renting a car?

Ask and you shall receive. Car rental agencies are always offering discounts and specials, so inquire at the time of your reservation. In addition, if you are not satisfied when you arrive at your car, gently ask for a newer, upgraded car. Also, look carefully at your frequent flyer, credit card, and hotel guest program statements, as free upgrade certificates are often enclosed but easily overlooked.
